Day 1 :

Arrival in Haridwar | City of Gods

Welcome to India. After your arrival at Delhi (DEL) airport or your specified starting point, you will be met by our representative and transferred directly to Haridwar via private SUV. As one of India’s holiest cities, Haridwar is vibrant and spiritually charged. After checking into your hotel, you have time to freshen up before we head to the Ganges River. In the evening, we will visit the famous Har Ki Pauri ghat to witness the spectacular Ganga Aarti ceremony. Priests chant hymns and thousands of tiny oil lamps are floated on the water, creating an atmosphere of deep reverence. We return to the hotel for dinner.

Day 2 :

Drive to Pipalkoti | The Himalayan Foothills

Day 2 we begin our ascent into the mountains. Following breakfast, we depart Haridwar for a scenic 8 to 9-hour drive to Pipalkoti. The route winds through charming towns and offers the first breathtaking views of the river valleys. Pipalkoti serves as a convenient stopover to break the journey and allow you to begin acclimatizing to the elevation. Check into your hotel for a relaxing evening. Enjoy a hearty dinner and prepare for the next phase of the journey.

Day 3 :

Journey to Ghangaria via Govindghat | The Base Camp

On Day 3. we will continue our drive to Govindghat. This small settlement is the launching point for the famous Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib treks. Upon reaching Govindghat, we will start our actual trek to Ghangaria, which takes about 6 to 7 hours. You will hike alongside the roaring Bhyundar Ganga river, crossing dense forests and picturesque bridges. The trail is well-defined and climbs gradually. Ghangaria, a tiny hamlet, will be our base for the next two nights. Check into your accommodation (verified hotels or Swiss camps) for a well-deserved meal and rest.

Day 4 :

Trek to Hemkund Sahib and Back | A Spiritual Ascent

After an early breakfast, we begin the most significant part of our pilgrimage, the steep 6km trek to Hemkund Sahib. This Gurudwara is the highest in the world, located at over 15,000 feet. The trail is challenging, ascending quickly above the treeline into stunning alpine scenery. We highly recommend a steady pace and staying hydrated. Upon reaching the top, the reward is immediate: the striking Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara and the stunning, glass-like Hemkund Sarovar glacial lake, surrounded by seven majestic peaks. You will find profound tranquility here. After spending time absorbing the peacefulness and perhaps a cup of chai, we begin the descent back to Ghangaria for dinner.

Explore the Valley of Flowers or Return Trek | Nature’s Canvas

Day 6 :

Drive Back to Haridwar | A Change in Elevation

We say farewell to the high mountains today. Following breakfast, we depart from Pipalkoti for the return journey to Haridwar. This 8 to 9-hour drive allows you to decompress and reflect on the experience while watching the landscape transition back from alpine terrain to the plains. We expect to arrive in Haridwar by early evening. After checking into your hotel, you have the evening free to explore the local markets or perhaps revisit the Ganges for one last tranquil view. Enjoy dinner and a final night in this ancient city.

Day 7 :

Haridwar Departure | Final Farewells

After breakfast, this concludes your Hemkund Haridwar spiritual adventure. We provide a final private transfer to either Haridwar Railway Station or directly to Delhi (DEL) for your international flight or continued travels within India. We recommend scheduling flights from Delhi for late evening or the following day to allow for the travel time from Haridwar.

How far is the Hemkund Sahib trek from Haridwar?

From Govindghat, you cannot travel further by vehicle. The actual trekking distance is then about 14 kilometers (9 miles) from Govindghat to the base village of Ghangaria. From Ghangaria, it is an additional, steep 6-kilometer (3.7-mile) climb to reach the Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara itself. Which month is the best time to visit Hemkund Sahib?

The Gurudwara is only open from late May to October due to heavy winter snow. The absolute best months for this journey are July and August. While it is the monsoon season, the natural beauty is unparalleled. September offers clearer skies and cooler weather but with fewer flowers.
